Always a pleasure to come get my teeth cleaned here! The clinic itself is welcoming and clean. Sabrina at the front is so helpful. I usually go to Katrina for cleanings, she’s quick, efficient, and really thorough. Dr Lamiaa is literally the best dentist I’ve ever met. She’s honest and informative. I’ve recommended so many people to the clinic because it’s actually a good experience at a dental clinic, which is few and far between! Highly recommend!

I recently had a dental emergency and the Dundas Dental Care team got me in right away. Sarah was so attentive, helpful and made me feel like so comfortable. Dr. Mo knew I was scared of the dentist and he made me feel right at home and so calm about the entire situation. Melissa was my dental assistant and eased any fears I might have had at the dentist. Her and Dr. Mo are truly the best team and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for dental work. Thank you guys for making me feel at home and calm. 10/10 would recommend that you go to them for any dental needs!!

      What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a man-made replacement for the natural tooth root, which allows a person to return to non-removable teeth or a more secure prosthetic dental restoration. Dental implants for tooth replacement have been around for more than sixty years now. Many people are familiar with hip or knee replacements to restore mobility. Dental implants utilize the same materials and technology- just smaller- to restore chewing function and health. A dental implant is made of medical grade titanium alloy. They look, and feel just like your own teeth. There are several types of dental implants of which Dr. Mohamed El Fouly will select the most suited for your specific needs and general dental condition.

How Is A Dental Implant Inserted?

Implants are inserted into the jaw bone, and extend into the mouth for attachment to the replacement teeth. You will not see the implants as they will be under the pink gum tissues. The process is very comfortable, and it is easier to numb bone than it is to numb teeth.

Many of the negative consequences of tooth loss can be avoided when implants are placed in a timely manner. For this reason, sometimes Dr. Mohamed El Fouly will recommend that the dental implants be placed the same day that the tooth is removed. Other times, it is best to wait for two to four months for initial healing after tooth removal before placing the implants. Nevertheless, the best time to place implants is within the first year after tooth removal. If you have been missing teeth for many years and bone loss has occurred; dental implants can still likely be placed to prevent further deterioration.

What To Expect On Your Dental Implant Treatment Journey

The actual implant placement process is much more comfortable than you might imagine.

      Assessment

First, you’ll have a dental implant consultation to find out if implants are right for you. Your dentist will take X-rays and a 3D cone-beam CT scan of your jaw to evaluate the bone tissue and plan your treatment. The dental team will take a scan or impression of your teeth to help them plan the angulation of your implant.

      Inserting the implant

We administer an anesthetic so that the surgical site will be completely numb. The dentist creates a small hole in the gums and bone of your mouth. The dentist places the implant post in the hole. Sometimes (but not always) sutures are needed to close up the gums.

      Finalizing the restoration

You go home to let your implant heal over the course of the next few months. You come back to the practice where we will have your dental restoration ready to go. We will place the restoration and you will leave with a brand-new and fully functional tooth.

Cost of dental implants in Dundas

In Dundas you can expect to pay approximately $3,000 - $6,000+ for a single implant. Full-mouth reconstructive dental implants can cost anywhere from $6,000 to $60,000 and up. The cost for a full set of implant-supported dentures averages out to about $30,000. Keep in mind that no dental practice can provide you with an accurate quote over the phone. The dental implant procedure is very complex and depends on many factors that are unique from person to person.

How is the cost of dental implant surgery determined? Here are some important factors:
      • The type and number of implants you need.
      • The materials and supplies that are used.
      • The time and experience of the dental team that will be with you every step of the way.
      • The location and complexity of the surgery.
      • Your recovery time. We will be here for you for as long as you need us.

Every case is different so it's important to speak with a dentist and to have an oral exam to allow us to evaluate your unique situation and provide you with different treatment options to consider. We would be happy to provide you with a more accurate quote.

Are there other solutions for missing teeth?

Gaps caused by 1 to 3 missing teeth can sometimes be repaired with a dental bridge. A lot of missing teeth on the top or bottom or the whole mouth may be repaired with a dental prosthetic or removable dentures. When comparing the cost of dental implants to other tooth-replacement options it is important to consider the pros and cons.

Dental implants may require a steeper initial investment but they are more secure and durable than bridges or dentures. Removable dental prosthetics require different care and maintenance and you may need to have them adjusted or replaced as you age. By contrast, you take care of your dental implant like you would take care of your natural teeth, with routine oral care at home and routine dental exams. With proper care, a dental implant can last a lifetime.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely no one ever has to know that your implants are not your natural teeth. Dental implants are made of metal screws, but these are hidden beneath your gums and covered with lifelike restorations that blend in naturally with the rest of your smile.

Dentures and implants are not the same thing and they function in very different ways. Dentures rest on top of your gums and press down on the underlying bone tissue. Implants strengthen your bite because they are fixed well below your gums. Both tooth replacement options have unique pros and cons. We recommend that you visit us in person to find out which treatment is best for you.

To get an implant you must be an adult and have good general oral health. Your jawbone must be strong enough to support a new implant and other supporting tissues, like your gums, must be healthy to reduce the risk of complications. If you’re concerned that you might not be a viable candidate, give us a call to find out for sure. There are usually treatment options available to restore your oral health with the ultimate goal of getting a dental implant and there are often alternative solutions to replacing missing teeth.

Yes! Your dental implant may be topped by a crown, a bridge or implant-supported dentures that will always be custom made to make you feel comfortable. That means your custom-made teeth are shaped and coloured to match your existing teeth and bite. Patients often have difficulty distinguishing their natural teeth from their beautiful new dental implants.

The science of dental implants has evolved so rapidly from its early days that it is now a very predictable and relatively pain-free procedure. The dental implant procedure is completed with such care and precision you’ll experience as little discomfort as possible. With proper aftercare, you can expect minimal swelling and almost no bleeding. Your physical and emotional health are both important to us. If you feel anxious about visiting us for any reason, please let us know.

Implant procedures vary in complexity and extent depending on the patient’s dental condition and requirements can
involve a significant financial investment. A survey of 350 consecutive patients after completion of their implant treatment revealed that they felt not only was it worth the investment, but that they would happily do it again and wished
      they did it sooner.

Some dental procedures and portions of grafting or implant surgeries are covered by dental and extended health
benefit plans. Our office personnel will assist you in obtaining these benefits.
Many insurance policies will not cover this procedure. In office finance plans are available to make this procedure
      affordable for everyone.

Just as with any surgery, there can be some pain (discomfort). However, anesthetics and sedation virtually eliminate
pain (discomfort) during the actual surgery. Postoperative pain (discomfort) will be similar to that of having teeth removed. This varies from person to person depending on your own pain tolerance and the simplicity or complexity
of the procedure being done. In the majority of cases, however, the discomfort is mild to moderate for the first one to
three days. After the initial healing you should have no further discomfort.Patients will be provided with prescription
medication to alleviate this pain (discomfort).

It depends on your particular condition and needs, and the extent of the work involved. Individual operations may take from one
half-hour to several hours. There may be as few as one operation, or a series of multiple operations and follow-up visits, which
would be scheduled over a period of months to insure proper healing and an optimal result.

There are some implants, which have been in the mouth for as long as fifty
years. This is not the average. The average expectancy is less and varies based upon numerous variables,
such as the patient’s health and proper maintenance
